1. Loose leaf tea is higher quality tea

Tea bags are often made with "dust" or "fannings" - essentially the left overs after the largest leaves have been sorted and graded, making them much lower in quality (break open your teabag and have a look what is inside!). Quality loose leaf tea is often whole tea leaves or broken whole leaves, the bigger the leaf the better the quality of tea and the more beautiful flavours you will experience.

2. Quality loose leaf tea is so good for you.

Tea (Camellia sinensis) is bursting with powerful antioxidants and is a rich source of vitamins and minerals. The better quality the tea, the better for you. Not restricted by a tea bag, large quality loose leaves have more room to 'dance' and brew and this allows the water to flow through the leaves and extract a wide range of vitamins, minerals, flavors, and aromas from the leaves.

3. Tea bags often contain micro-plastics

OMG. These micro-plastics can leach into your beverage (and let's not forget that classy staple that attaches the string and tag), this is not ideal for health and makes tea bags unable to be composted. Also, tea bags are often individually wrapped and packaged with loads of plastic waste. Cut out those single-use plastics, the environment will love you for it!

4. Quality loose leaf tea is handcrafted

Quality loose leaf tea is often made using the handcrafted orthodox method of tea production - this involves the plucking and processing of tea by hand by skilled tea masters instead of mass production involving machine picking and processing.

5. Loose leaf tea is often fresher

Tea bags are normally commercially produced for supermarket sales - this tea can come from multiple locations and travel a long distance in transit. The different teas being processed together make it less fresh and produces inconsistent cups.

6. Loose leaf tea is cheaper to purchase than packaged tea bags

There's a perception that loose leaf tea is much more expensive per cup than a tea bag, but often this is absolutely not the case when you do your sums. The key is to find a great supplier of loose leaf tea (like us!) and to buy in bulk where possible rather than individually wrapped single-served tea bags.
